“Little Croatia” created in Kraków

Following the initiative of the Honorary Consul of Croatia in Kraków Mr. Paweł Włodarczyk, the Kraków Bagry Lake has gained an international spot, the so-called Little Croatia. On 13 April 2021 an agreement on further co-operation in the implementation of a joint project of Kraków and Croatia was signed at the office of the Mayor of Kraków.

The number of official diplomatic missions operating in our city has increased to 38! On 7 April 2021 Ms. Joanna Natasza Wais was granted ministerial exequatur and has since been officially acting as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Colombia in Kraków.

On the eve of the world-wide eco-action Earth Hour, which Krakow will traditionally join, we would like to focus on the initiatives and projects which our partner cities are implementing to protect the environment.

Adam Zagajewski has died

Adam Zagajewski died in Kraków on March 21, at the age of 76. He was a Prominent poet, essayist, translator, representative of the New Wave generation, long-time editor of the Zeszyty Literackie quarterly magazine, university teacher, and recipient of multiple coveted literary awards. For many years his life was connected with Kraków. He passed away on March 21st - the day on which World Poetry is celebrated.

Aaiún Nin - new writer-in-residence under the ICORN program

On 18 March 2021, the Mayor of Kraków officially welcomed a new resident of the ICORN International Network of Cities of Refuge programme. For the next two years, Aaiún Nin, a poet, performer and activist from Angola, will stay at Villa Decius.

I've seen the future. Year of Stanisław Lem in Kraków, Poland and around the world

Dozens of events and artistic projects will mark the Year of Lem in Poland and around the world. A special conference organised by the Kraków Festival Office and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute presented the programme of the Year of Lem, the visual setting for the celebrations, as well as Kraków's financial support programme for cultural activities related to the writer's works and Lem-themed publishing projects.

 

The OWHC is recruiting: position of Secretary General

The Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) is looking for a Secretary General. The OWHC is looking for a leader whose main objectives will be to develop and maintain strong bonds among World Heritage Cities and partner organizations, increase the OWHC’s membership, develop a fundraising strategy and represent the interests of the organization around the globe.

Kraków among the world's greenest cities

Our city was ranked fifth in the world and third in Europe in the rating created by Husqvarna Urban Green Space Index (HUGSI). The list was created based on satellite images and the proportion of green space in urban areas.
